The Kutztown University Writing Center welcomes student submissions for its first poetry contest. The National Day on Writing through the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is an occasion to “celebrate writing in all its forms.” Monday, October 20 marks this year’s National Day on Writing.
We are asking students to submit original poems surrounding the theme “What Writing Means to Me.” With author permission, all submissions will be featured on the KUWC website. One grand prize winner will receive a $25 Paw Pass, KUWC T-shirt, and will have their poem published in Kutztown University’s Shoofly and Lehigh Valley Vanguard magazine.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 27. Please email submissions with your name, major, graduation year, and your attached poem to email@example.com. Include “PoetryContest” in the subject line of your email. Winners will be announced on our website and Facebook on Thursday, October 30.
Stay tuned for news about more KUWC projects for National Day on Writing, including our Never-Ending Storybook and sidewalk chalk messages on Alumni Plaza!
